The Reverend Henry Lea studied at Cambridge, see attached image. Ordained deacon (Ely) 1841; priest (Ely) 1842; C. Hammpreston, Dorset, 1841-4. V. of Swineshead, Lincs., 1844-8. Sometime of South Grove, Gt Malvern and of Rosenlaui, Clifton, Yorks where he died.
“The land and patronage in the village of Thurgarton was in the hands of Trinity College Cambridge and they instructed a new house be built for the new vicar, Reverend Henry Lea Guillebaud. The plan of the house, originally called ‘The Manor House’ is still kept in the Nottinghamshire Archives and shows that not much has changed since it was first built.
“The 1851 census shows that Reverend Guillebaud was first living in the house as a batchelor with three live-in servants; a groom, housekeeper and a housemaid. He later went on to marry Jemima and had five children while continuing as the vicar of Thurgarton for 20 years, until 1872.”
The Old Rectory, posted by Melanie Backe-Hansen, May 5, 2010 in Historian and also http://property-blog.chestertonhumberts.com/historian/the-old-rectory/
“In 1848 the Rev. Henry Lea Guillebaud MA became the first vicar of Thurgarton and Hoveringham to live at the parsonage. The son of a Somerset clergyman of Huguenot descent he had followed his father’s footsteps into the church after gaining a MA at Trinity College Cambridge in 1841. He married in his late 30s and he and wife Jemima raised five children at Thurgarton. He left the village in 1872 shortly after establishing the Church of England village school.”

Lord Mayor was born on an uncertain date in 1792 and married in 1813. His father, John Wilson, was a farmer of Stenson, Derbyshire. Wilson served in many capacities: magistrate in Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Middlesex, Commander of the East London militia and Colonel in the Royal London militia from 1854 to 1878. The last squire of Beckenham.
“When we talk of The Village we naturally think of the High Street as the centre of village life, with tradesmen, shops and public houses serving the Manor Houses and Estates and the workers on those estates. The central figure was the Village Squire, the last of whom in Beckenham was Cornelius Lea Wilson, who died at Village Place in December 1911 at the age of 96.”
